AHU Coach

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 21 October 2026

In short: AHU collects what you share to build your Action Plan, and the details you give when you sign up. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising. If something you write suggests you may be at risk of harm, an administrator is alerted so we can meet our duty of care.

1. Who we are

This policy explains how Te Ahu Solutions Ltd ("we", "us") collects, uses, stores and protects personal information through the AHU app ("AHU") and this website. We are based in Aotearoa New Zealand and follow the Privacy Act 2020.

2. What we collect

  • Account details: your first and last name, preferred name, email address, age range, gender, area, mobile number and password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
  • Your starting focus: the areas from Ngā Kete o te Wānanga you choose to strengthen when you begin.
  • Your assessment answers: your responses to AHU's ten guided questions. Most are choices from set options. Two are optional free-text questions: one describing what's happening, and one inviting anything else you'd like AHU to know.
  • Your Action Plan: the seven-part plan generated for you, and the parts you approve.
  • Your reflections: what you record when you check in on a plan.
  • Messages to us: anything you send to our support address.

If you use fingerprint or PIN login, this is handled by your device. AHU never receives your fingerprint or biometric data.

3. What we deliberately don't collect

We don't request or collect health records, diagnoses, medication information, biometric data, your precise location, your contacts, calendar, microphone, camera or Health Connect data.

4. How we use your information

  • To create your account and provide AHU, including generating your Action Plan and showing your history.
  • To help you notice recurring themes across your own plans over time.
  • To improve AHU's approach, using categorised and combined information from many plans. We never use your raw personal story for this.
  • To send service messages, such as your check-in reminder, and to reply when you contact us.

We do not use your information for advertising and we never sell it.

5. Your safety

Anything you write in the two free-text questions is checked for words that suggest you may be at risk of harm. If there's a match, AHU shows you a safety message and helpline details straight away. The flagged text is also shared with an administrator at Te Ahu Solutions Ltd, so we can meet our duty of care to you. This is the one exception to how closely we otherwise limit what we look at.

Flagged content can be seen only by the person at Te Ahu Solutions Ltd responsible for safety, and is kept only as long as needed to respond and to meet our legal obligations. AHU is not a crisis service. If you're in immediate danger, call 111.

6. AI processing

To generate your Action Plan, your assessment answers are sent to Anthropic's Claude service, which is based in the United States. This means your answers are processed outside New Zealand. By using AHU, you agree to this processing for the purpose of creating your plan.

7. Who we share information with

  • Anthropic (Claude), to generate your Action Plan, as above.
  • Emergent, the platform that hosts AHU's app and database. Your information may be stored outside New Zealand.
  • Google, for Google sign-in (if you use it), app distribution through Google Play, and subscription payments through Google Play Billing. We receive confirmation of your subscription, never your card details.

We don't share your information with advertisers, data brokers or anyone for marketing.

9. Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app or by request. When you do, we delete your account details and any assessment answers not already removed. The categorised content of your plans is anonymised: the link to you is permanently removed, so it can no longer be traced back to you, and it may continue to help us improve AHU. See Delete your account for the steps.

10. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and limit access within Te Ahu Solutions Ltd to what's needed to run AHU. No system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

11. Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. Email support@teahusolutions.com. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

12. Age

AHU is for people aged 18 and over. Sign-up is not available to anyone younger, and no information from a blocked sign-up is kept.

13. Cookies and analytics

This website doesn't use cookies, tracking or advertising tools. AHU does not use your information for advertising. If we add analytics or crash reporting to the app, we will update this policy first.

14. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
